The research project titled “Last Exit Before Water Wars: Seeking Sustainable Solutions for Disappearing Lakes – The Case of Lake Burdur,” led by Dr. Öğr. Üyesi Özge Can Doğmuş, a faculty member of the Department of Geography at our university's Faculty of Arts and Sciences, has been awarded support under the TÜBİTAK 3501 – Career Development Program.

The project aims to develop sustainable and locally sensitive water management policies by analyzing the water usage behaviors of agricultural producers around Lake Burdur, one of Turkey's most fragile water basins. Within the scope of the project, both individual and collective behavior patterns will be examined using innovative methods such as participatory mapping, mind mapping, and behavioral experimental games.

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Mustafa Utlu, also a faculty member from the same department, is involved in the project as a researcher, contributing with his expertise in the field. Two scholarship holders at the master's and doctoral levels will be included in the research process, and the project outputs will be disseminated through both academic publications and workshops with local stakeholders.

The project supports our university's vision in the areas of environmental sustainability, regional development, and community engagement; it also serves as an example of interdisciplinary research conducted within our faculty.

We congratulate Dr. Öğr. Üyesi Özge Can Doğmuş and the project team and wish them continued success.
